When a photo includes a friend, colleague, child, bystander, or customer, the safest editing workflow is one that lets you inspect the result before you share it. PrivaCanvas processes supported images in your browser: choose a photo, ask the editor to detect faces on your device, review each suggested mask, and download a new PNG.
Automatic detection is a review aid. It can miss a face, include a false match, or leave an edge uncovered. You remain responsible for checking the finished image before sharing it.
The original file on your device is not changed. Share the downloaded redacted copy, not the original photo.
Blur is useful for ordinary visual privacy, such as hiding a face in a group photo while preserving the scene. It transforms the pixels in the selected area, so colors and broad shapes can remain. It is not the best choice when a detail must be visually unrecoverable.

Face detection does not look for text or private objects. Before sharing a photo, look for details around the detected face as well:

PrivaCanvas decodes the image, runs face detection, draws masks, and creates the download in the browser. The editor does not send the image, filename, face locations, or mask coordinates to its usage analytics. The downloaded result is a new, flattened PNG rather than an edited copy of the original file.
This local design reduces unnecessary sharing, but it is not a legal guarantee of anonymity. Review the exported image carefully and follow the privacy rules that apply to your situation.
No. It finds likely face regions so you can create masks. It does not compare a face to an identity or tell you who a person is.
Yes. Pixelation makes the masking more obvious while keeping coarse image structure. For sensitive text or identifiers, use blackout instead.
